About Asian Eyelid Surgery
Cosmetic eyelid surgery is the most common elected procedure among people of Asian ethnicity in the United States and in Asia. Eyelid surgery performed by our double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Petroff, can thin a full eyelid, alter the shape or height of the upper or lower eyelids, decrease a pronounced epicanthal fold (the flap of tissue on the nasal side of the eyelid), or create a natural-looking crease. At Petroff Center Plastic Surgery and Medi-Spa, we understand our patient's desires to naturally enhance their eyes without disregarding their ethnicity or heritage. Dr. Petroff will meet with each patient to discuss their goals and desired outcome for the surgery in order to produce the most subtle, ideal results. We invite everyone to contact our Lake Oswego, OR practice to learn more.

"I can't say enough good things about Dr. Petroff or his staff! I got a rhinoplasty done at the Petroff Center 6 months ago and I'm absolutely obsessed with how my nose turned out. The entire process was so much easier than I thought it was going to be and I know that's because of the expertise of Dr. Petroff! I barely bruised, had minimal swelling and healed extremely fast. He somehow managed to give me everything I wanted out of my surgery and more. He has the absolute perfect eye for rhinoplasty, I constantly get compliments about how natural my nose looks now, and how it looks like the nose I should've had! Not only that his staff is amazing, warm, welcoming and extremely helpful! I can't even begin to describe how absolutely beautiful and happy I feel because of this surgery and I'm so so glad I chose The Petroff Center. If you're wanting a rhinoplasty; especially in Oregon there's just no one better than Dr. Petroff!!"- S.R. / Yelp / Dec 18, 2017
"I've had multiple treatments of lip injections from Dr. Petroff and I can honestly say he is the only doctor I will trust in the Portland area. He listened to my request and concerns on how I liked the shape of my lips. He is very knowledgeable on what types of injectables I would benefit from and what injections may not work the best for me. The entire staff is very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this facility."- T.R. / Yelp / Dec 09, 2017
"I have complete and utter trust with Dr Petroff. I am very happy with the results of my surgery and it has only been two weeks. I call him ""The Master"". Picking the right plastic surgeon, in my opinion is the most important part of plastic surgery. The staff are wonderful and always there for you. They called me regularly to check on me! I am grateful....and look amazing!"- A.M. / Solutionreach / Nov 14, 2017
"It was a pleasant and very comfortable experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat."- G.S. / Solutionreach / Nov 11, 2017
What to Expect
The procedure itself varies depending on the techniques used, as well as the patient’s goals and eyelid anatomy. An incisional approach is usually taken for double eyelid surgery, in which the skin and sometimes muscle are trimmed and some fat may be removed. In some cases, particularly for lower eyelid surgery, a transconjunctival (minimally invasive) approach is possible. Dr. Petroff will discuss with each patient before their procedure to thoroughly understand their goals and unique eye structure.
Minimal side effects such as itching, drying, bruising, swelling, and a sense of tightness in the eyelids are commonly observed following eyelid surgery. These symptoms are pretty normal and should subside within 1 - 2 weeks. Most patients resume routine activities in a matter of 5 - 7 days when non-absorbable stitches are removed, and they can return to work in about 10 days after a blepharoplasty. Contact lenses should not be worn for 2 weeks. Eyes can be sensitive to light and wind and may be slightly irritated for a short while. Dr. Petroff will prescribe eye drops and cool compresses to ease any discomfort. After 1 - 2 months, patients should see their true results: a more refreshed and cheerful look around the eyes and improved self-confidence, with little to no visible scars.
