Vein & Pigmentation Treatment in Lake Oswego, OR

Overview

ABOUT LASER VEIN TREATMENT

Spider veins are blood vessels that have become twisted or dilated, creating unattractive red or purple web-like marks commonly on the face or legs. At Petroff Center Plastic Surgery and Medi-Spa, laser treatments are typically used to reduce spider veins of the face and smaller vessels of the legs. The treatment process works by allowing the heat and energy from the laser to break down the vessel and force it to collapse or scar without harming the surrounding tissues. At Petroff Center, we offer the GentleMax Pro, which utilizes 1064 Nd:YAG laser technology. The FDA has approved a range of Nd:YAG laser machines for various skin disorders. This reduces the appearance of the red marks and patterns on the skin. If patients are interested in treating their spider veins, then we invite them to schedule a consult with Dr. Mark A. Petroff or Dr. Brian Scott at our Lake Oswego, OR practice.

ABOUT LASER HYPERPIGMENTATION TREATMENT

Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) is a usually harmless condition that is very common for all skin types and races. Hyperpigmentation is caused by the excess production of melanin in certain spots of the skin, causing the deposits to look darker than the natural skin tone. Melanin is the pigment that gives human skin, hair, and eye their color. Different types of hyperpigmentation can be treated at Petroff Center Plastic Surgery and Medi-Spa using laser treatments. Dr. Petroff and Dr. Scott proudly offer the GentleMax Pro 755 Alexandrite laser to heat up these discolored areas such as pigmented lesions and sun damage which causes them to eventually diminish in appearance. Depending on the condition, we can recommend the best course of treatment options. Our Lake Oswego, OR patients can schedule a consultation to find out if they’re a candidate.

Best Candidates

Those wishing to undergo laser vein treatments will receive the best results if they are:

  • Suffering from visible spider veins in the face and in small areas on the legs

What to Expect

Treatment may require 1 - 3 visits depending on the size of the vessels and number of vessels being treated. Treatments are performed approximately 4 - 6 weeks apart. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours following treatment. After the treatment, patients' veins may appear bruised or darker red. This discoloration will fade over the next few weeks. Brown discoloration may take several months to fade.
