Brow Lift in Lake Oswego, OR

About Brow Lift Surgery

Brow lifts (forehead surgery) can revitalize excessively wrinkled foreheads with drooping eyebrows. The procedure can help patients look less angry, sad, or tired. Dr. Mark A. Petroff and Dr. Brian Scott have decades of experience using minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods to the smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. Endoscopic brow lifts are less extensive and do not harm or remove any scalp or hair. Only small incisions are necessary, and in the hands of an experienced facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Petroff or Dr. Scott, excellent, long-term results can be attained that look natural and not at all “pulled.” Our goal for our Lake Oswego, OR patients is that they look younger without anyone knowing they have had a cosmetic procedure. We invite anyone who may think they are a candidate for a brow lift to schedule a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Petroff or Dr. Scott at Petroff Center Plastic Surgery and Medi-Spa.

During your private consultation, Dr. Petroff or Dr. Scott will likely discuss various facial procedures, including a facelift for certain patients. It is very common to incorporate a brow lift in with a facelift to address not only the mid-to-lower face but the upper facial section as well for an overall rejuvenation facial appearance.

Ideal Candidates

The best candidates for brow lift surgery:

  • Have excess skin creating folds and creases
  • Droopy eyelids and eyebrows
  • Dynamic wrinkles on their brow
  • Want a long-lasting solution
  • Do not need a full facelift

What To Expect

The surgery is an outpatient procedure performed using a local anesthetic and IV sedation. First, the hair is wrapped with small tapes near the incision site. Then, Dr. Petroff or Dr. Scott makes 3 - 5 short incisions (less than an inch long) behind the hairline. The endoscope is placed in one of the incisions so he can see beneath the skin without having to make a large incision. Using the scope as a guide, he will then lift the skin and adjust the muscles through the other incisions. If the eyebrows are lifted, they will be secured into place using a resorbable fixation device called Ultratine®. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and/or a facelift to improve the appearance of the eyes and other areas of the face.

The nurses, support staff, and Dr. Petroff were amazing every step of the way, from my first appointment through facial surgery and beyond. Highly recommend The Petroff Center. In August of 2023, I had a brow lift with facelift done by Dr. Petroff. The outcome is fantastic. Not only am I a younger looking me, but the facelift reconstructed a scar on my face that I'd lived with for 10 years. In 2013, my ENT doctor discovered a tumor in my salivary gland. The tumor had to be surgically removed from my left parotid salivary gland. While the tumor removal was successful, it left a deep indentation on my face, just in front of my left ear; in addition, I developed a condition called Frey's Syndrome due to trauma to the auriculotemporal nerve. This means that when I ate, or even thought about food, I experienced intense gustatory sweating from the parotidectomy surgical scar. Basically, the nerve would produce moisture (sweat) on the facial scar when I was supposed to be salivating. Yikes! (Napkins came in very handy!) Well, the amazing miracle is that Dr. Petroff filled the scar indentation in front of my ear by recruting fat from my lower jawline. And, at the same time, he removed the area of skin and damagerd nerve that cause the Frey's Syndrome. I three months post facial surgery and I am so happy about having plastic surgery at the Petroff Center. I just wish I'd done it sooner!

Anticipated Results

Brow lift surgery usually takes about 2 hours, and once the patient has been cleared by the doctor, they may be taken home by a responsible adult to recover at home. Most patients take 1 – 3 weeks to recover after a brow lift, but they are generally able to drive and return to work in 2 weeks. For the first days after the surgery, patients should expect some temporary bruising, discomfort, tightness, and numbness. Dr. Petroff or Dr. Scott will talk to each patient about what they need to do during their recovery and provide tips for an easier recovery. Patients will need to return for a follow-up appointment in 1 week to have their sutures removed and their healing progress checked. While visible improvements can be seen right after the procedure, the final results of the brow lift are usually seen about 4 – 6 months after the surgery.

Awake, Alert, Ageless

Many patients fear that a brow lift will leave them looking permanently surprised, unnaturally wide eyed, or like they obviously had plastic surgery. A plastic surgeon with experience in brow lift surgery like Dr. Petroff or Dr. Scott will focus on creating a younger, natural-looking appearance that refreshes the face. Our surgeon and patient can decide how dramatic or how subtle they want the results to be. After brow lift surgery, patients will look more awake, more alert, and more like the age they feel.
